Your Window Replacement Questions, Answered

  • Why Should I Replace My Home's Windows?

If your windows are drafty, difficult to open, or have damaged seals, it’s time to consider replacement.

Replacing old or damaged windows improves your home's energy efficiency, enhances its curb appeal, reduces outside noise, and increases your home’s value. It can also eliminate drafts and condensation issues.

When you have older windows, the seals between panes start to fail or they allow outside air to get inside.

Seal failure between panes causes the gas to leak out, which lowers the overall energy efficiency of the window. It can also cause the window to look cloudy due to moisture getting between those panes. An outside air leak is most noticeable in the winter months when you can feel a cold draft in different rooms of your home.

  • How Long Do New Windows Last?

Most quality windows last 20–40 years, depending on the material, installation quality, and exposure to Fredericksburg's climate. If your windows are drafty, difficult to open, or have damaged seals, it’s time to consider replacement.

Popular Window Questions

Got a question? We're here to help.

  • Why Should I Replace My Windows?

  • Are New Windows Energy-Efficient?

    Short answer: Yes.

The manufacturer is the biggest factor to consider here. Some windows that are “builder grade” quality are made to look good and be functional without providing the best energy efficiency for your home. However, most windows today are designed with better glass seals, thicker frames, and insulated edges.

Installation is another big factor, as a poorly installed window will be just as drafty as a cheap, old window due to air leaking around the edges.

  • Will New Windows Change How My Home Looks?

They can if you want them to. Windows have the power to massively change your home’s curb appeal by using different colors, materials, or styles, and adding windows will change how much light comes into your home.
